The Government of Akwa Ibom State has prohibited the pasting or display of bills, posters, banners and other advertising materials on road kerbs, medians, bridges, public buildings and other public infrastructure across the state.

The ban takes effect from today, Friday, October 23, 2026.

The Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, disclosed this in a public notice issued on Friday.

According to the notice, any person or organisation found violating the directive shall bear the cost of removing such materials and restoring affected public infrastructure, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

All concerned have also been directed to remove any such materials already placed in these locations without delay.

The notice further stated that security agencies and relevant government authorities have been directed to monitor compliance and take appropriate enforcement action against offenders in accordance with the law.

The Government reiterated its commitment to maintaining a clean, orderly and aesthetically pleasing environment and urged all residents and organisations to protect public infrastructure from defacement.

The general public is advised to take note and comply accordingly.
